Our Community
Gracious Place sits in the heart of Sanford's Historic District, in a 1920s-era school that has been meticulously renovated and brought back to its original luster. High ceilings, wide corridors and generous light — the things that made it a fine school make it a remarkable place to live.
Under new ownership, the community carries forward the same philosophy behind our sister community in Wisconsin: small-scale attention inside a full-service home. Residents are supported in doing everything they still can for themselves, and helped with the rest.
Levels of Care
Care needs change. Because assisted living, memory care and specialty nursing services are all licensed under one roof, residents can move gently between levels without leaving the people and rooms they know.
Personal care assistance for residents who want their own routine and their own room, with a hand available whenever it's needed — day or night.
A dedicated, secured neighborhood for residents living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia — structured, calm and purposefully unhurried.
State specialty licenses let us support residents whose needs go beyond standard assisted living, so a change in health doesn't have to mean a change in address.

There is always something happening, and never an obligation to join. Residents choose their own pace — a quiet morning on the porch counts just as much as a full afternoon.

Yes. Gracious Place is the new name for the community previously known as Gracious Age. The community came under new ownership in 2025 and was renamed. It is the same building at 1401 S Magnolia Ave in Sanford, with the same phone number — (407) 323-9914.
Assisted living and memory care, plus adult day care. State specialty licences for Limited Nursing Services (LNS) and Limited Mental Health (LMH) allow us to support residents whose needs go beyond standard assisted living — including diabetic care, incontinence care and support for non-ambulatory residents.
